What is Carob Gum?

Carob gum is a natural polysaccharide obtained from the seeds of the carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua). At UPEK GIDA, we produce this gum 100% naturally and without additives. It is widely used in the food industry as a thickening, stabilizing, and gelling agent.

This plant-based product is gluten-free and suitable for vegan diets. It is especially preferred in products such as ice cream, yogurt, sauces, canned foods, and baby food.

Applications

Carob gum adds thickness and textural stability to foods thanks to its gel-forming ability when in contact with water. It prevents ice crystal formation in the ice cream industry and inhibits whey separation in yogurt.

It is also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and animal feed industries. It is an eco-friendly and biodegradable raw material.
